C.T. Weber for State Senate, 6th District

C.T. Weber

C.T. Weber of Sacramento is running for State Senate in the 6th Senatorial District, which includes the cities of Sacramento and Citrus Heights, part of Rancho Cordova, and some nearby unincorporated areas of Sacramento County including all or part of the communities of Natomas, Elverta, Antelope, North Highlands, Florin, Rosemont and Arden.

His statement for the June ballot pamphlet that went to all P&F registered voters in the 6th District was:

Occupation: Retired State Employee and Union Activist

Qualifications: I was a long time union organizer, steward, and elected leader (including four terms on the California State Employees Association, Board of Directors). I worked 22 years as an analyst for the State of California.

My education includes a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach. I have been active in the peace, social, and economic justice movements for over 35 years. I founded several alternative institutions including the Long Beach Free Clinic.

I want the minimum wage to be doubled and tied to the cost of living. I support free, good quality health care for everyone. I support free, high quality education from pre-school through college. I believe everyone has the right to marry. I have actively opposed the death penalty for years and will continue to work to see that it is abolished. I will also work to end the three strikes laws.

If you elect me as your State Senator I will work to bring the California National Guard home to be available for emergencies in California. I will also insist that the California legislature pressure Congress for an immediate withdrawal of all U. S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and bring them home.
