June 6th P&F Results in Orange CountyLocal CandidatesState SenateThere are no Peace and Freedom Party candidates for State Senate in Orange County. U.S. House of RepresentativesKevin Akin of Riverside is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 44th Congressional District, which includes a strip along the southeastern edge of of Orange County (specifically, San Clemente and Ladera Ranch, about half of San Juan Capistrano and Trabuco Canyon, and small portions of Capistrano Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita), as well as the northwest portion of Riverside County. He received 4 votes in Orange County, of 54 in the entire district. State AssemblyThere are no Peace and Freedom Party candidates for State Assembly in Orange County. Local Non-partisan OfficesThe webmaster is not aware of any endorsements by the Orange County Peace and Freedom Party organization of any candidates for local non-partisan offices which were voted on in the June 6th primary election. Peace and Freedom Party Central CommitteesNo members of the Peace and Freedom Party Central Committees were elected from Orange County in 2004, and the webmaster is not aware of any candidates for Central Committees from the county who ran in the June 2006 primary election. Local MeasuresThe webmaster is not aware of any positions taken by the Orange County Peace and Freedom Party organization on any county, municipal or regional measures that were on the ballot June 6th in Orange County. Regional CandidateMary Lou Finley is running for Board of Equalization in the 3rd Board of Equalization District, which includes all of Orange County. She received 267 votes in Orange County, of 803 in the entire district. Statewide CandidatesThe slate of Peace and Freedom Party candidates for statewide partisan public offices are:
The Peace and Freedom Party also recommended a vote for Sarah Knopp for Superintendent of Public Instruction. She is a teacher and a socialist, though not a P&F member, who came in second of five candidates with 695,372 votes (17.3%) statewide for this nominally non-partisan position. In Orange County, she came in third with 45,190 votes (14.7%). Statewide MeasuresThere were two propositions on the statewide ballot June 6th, assigned proposition numbers 81 and 82. At its April 1st-2nd State Central Committee meeting, the Peace and Freedom Party took a position on one of measures.
